Street art : découvrez la fresque d’Obey peinte à Paris en 48h ! (photo)

Si le monde du street art foisonne de talents, il y a certains artistes qui se sont hissés au rang d’égérie de la discipline. On ne parle plus de Banksy, C215 mais aussi Obey.

C’est à lui notamment qu’on doit le fameux portrait Hope de Barack Obama sorti en 2008. Et pour le plus grand plaisir des amateurs de street art, Obey était de passage à Paris fin juin. Il en a profité pour peindre en 48h à peine une fresque géante sur un mur d’immeuble dans le quartier des Halles. Si vous ne l’avez pas encore vu, ça vaut le détour !

My crew and I just finished a large mural in the center of Paris next to the Pompidou Center and in front of the Stravinsky Fountain. The location is amazing because it is a busy plaza where people congregate adjacent to the Cathedral of Saint Mary. The Knowledge + Action mural is inspired by Art Nouveau but with a very currently relevant message. Apathy and ignorance have promoted a decline in civility and quality civic engagement, giving rise to forces who promote fear, division, and nationalism. We all need to understand the importance of both educating ourselves and taking action as we shape the future. I was honored that the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, came to the mural unveiling, and gave authorization and support for me to paint in a historical location. This project was facilitated by Mehdi Ben Cheikh of @galerie_itinerrance with whom I’m showing my art. La fresque représente deux femmes qui se font face, débout sur deux piles de livres. L’œuvre a été baptisée «  knowledge + action = power » soit la connaissance + l’action = le pouvoir. À noter qu’Obey célèbre cette année ses 30 ans de carrière.
